About us

A family of farmers and engineers

Ullmanna is a Czech-Austrian agritech company (founded 2019; Opava, Brno and Raggendorf) that develops AROW, an AI vision system for plant-level in-row weeding. Hoe manufacturers such as SAMO and Feldklasse build AROW into their machines; in 2026, 199 machines from nine manufacturers in 23 countries used it. It was founded by a farmer and an IT engineer who wanted a hoe that could see. Today Ullmanna no longer builds machines itself.

From one machine to the box inside many

The first NEWMAN went into a field in 2021. It was our own in-row weeder, built around the AROW box: cameras, lights, computing, AI and blade control in one unit. It worked, and it kept working season after season, on our own fields and on those of the farmers who bought it.

Every manufacturer who saw it asked the same question: can we have the cameras for our machine? That question became the company. Today Ullmanna no longer builds cultivators. We develop AROW, train it on every season of field data, and supply it to machinery manufacturers who build their own machines around it. The AROW box in each of those machines is connected to our platform for maintenance, updates, monitoring and data exchange; the manufacturers and their dealers look after the machines themselves.

We are still farmers. It keeps the models honest.

AROW and NEWMAN, in short

AROW. AROW is the AI vision box for in-row weeding: cameras, illumination, computing, AI models and blade control in one industrial unit. It finds the root point of every crop plant and opens and closes the blades around it up to three times per second. It is trained on 194 plants and works by day and by night.

NEWMAN. NEWMAN was our own in-row weeder. We built it around AROW in 2021 and ran it for four seasons on our own fields and those of our customers. The crop models, the hardware and our field experience all come from it.

Ullmanna no longer builds cultivators. We develop AROW and supply it to machinery manufacturers, who build their own machines around it. Every hoe with AROW inside runs the same crop models, and every AROW box is connected to the same platform.
